How to Choose a Fast Charger: GaN, USB-C PD and Wattage Explained
Compartir
A good charger saves time and can power several devices at once. Here is what to look for.
What is GaN?
GaN (gallium nitride) chargers are smaller and run cooler than older silicon chargers with the same power.
USB-C Power Delivery (PD)
PD is a common fast-charging standard for phones, tablets and laptops. Check that both your charger and your device support it.
How many watts do you need?
- Phone: around 20 to 30 W is usually enough for fast charging.
- Tablet: 30 W or more.
- Laptop: often 65 W or more. Check your original charger.
Multi-port chargers
A charger with several ports shares its total power between devices. Read how the power is split when all ports are in use.
Cable matters
Use a cable rated for the power you need. A weak cable limits charging speed.
Plug type
Choose the plug that matches your country. Check the options on the product page.
